The evening opens with William Grant Still’s Miniatures for Woodwind Quintet – a charming collection of folk-inspired vignettes drawn from various cultures across the Americas, followed by Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, and concluding with Antonín Dvořák’s “American” String Quartet, a work infused with the rhythms and melodies of African American spirituals and Native American music.
