*Sight Reading is a requirement when applying for any contracted positions. Please be prepared to play one or two selections given at the time of your audition. Sight reading may be asked for sub auditions

Important Audition Information:

ASO Personnel Manager, Miguel Ochoa, will contact you to confirm your application. Those auditioning will receive an email one week prior to your audition with your time slot.

Your deposit check must be postmarked before the application deadline in order to secure your audition time. Also, your deposit check will be refunded upon arrival at the scheduled audition time (or if written cancelation is received by the application deadline). Alternatively, you can secure your audition with a credit card deposit, but for an additional $5 non-refundable fee.

Candidates will perform behind a screen. In case of a second round, the screen may be removed. Approximately 5-7 minutes are allotted for each audition. Taped auditions are not accepted. All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

ASO strongly suggests being available all-day for your audition until you have been dismissed.
Applications must be submitted 10 days prior to the audition date. No excuses.

About ASO's Upcoming 19-20 Concert Season:

The Acadiana Symphony Orchestra is a "per service" orchestra. Our 2019-2020 Concert Season includes 6 Masterworks, 1 Chamber Concert, and 5 Runout concerts. Total number of services is 28-34. Pay is $70/service (section) and $80/service (principal). Travel pay is given for musicians who live over 50 miles from Lafayette. First-year contracts are always a "trial period". Permanent contracts may be issued after the first year.
