Give in to your wanderlust and head East with us – from the Middle East to Eastern Europe, where the art of traveling entertainment was mastered and refined over many centuries, by nomadic performers. These travelers would roam from town to town, putting on musical, dancing and theatrical performances, which often incorporated elements of the local culture. At this concert, guest artist and Israeli piano virtuoso, Orit Wolf will present a captivating and beautiful repertoire that explores the styles of Jewish Klezmer and Hungarian Gypsy music – both of which are known for combining components of other genres, including Ottoman, Arabic, and German, as well as Slavic folk dance, with that of their own musical traditions, to a create a unique and enchanting sound.
