An unforgettable performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem – a masterpiece that transcends the traditional boundaries of sacred music. This monumental work is Verdi’s deeply personal response to loss, and a stirring tribute to Italian cultural identity, inspired by the deaths of two great national figures: composer Gioachino Rossini and writer Alessandro Manzoni. This concert is presented in memory of Dr. Winston Riehl, of Lafayette. Dr. Riehl was a longtime supporter of ASO, and those who knew him best were aware of his love for architecture, fine music, fine art, and tennis. A place card in his home reads "architecture is frozen music." His legacy will live on in our hearts, our concerts, and every meticulous note performed on stage.
